This paper presentation seeks to explore the operation of pedagogical relations in the context of parent-teacher interactions. How is the educational task of preserving “natality in the midst of belatedness” (Levinson, 2001) framed and articulated in the conduct of parent-teacher relations? If parents and teachers are joined in their ‘duty of care’ towards the child, the paper presentation looks at how this interrelationship fashions pedagogic responsibility and agency.
